How do I make a reservation for an accommodation?

You can reserve your desired accommodation online via the reservation form on Basic Travel's website. Click here for a step-by-step explanation of making an online reservation: How to book with Basic Travel. It is also possible to make a reservation by telephone or e-mail. When making a telephone reservation or reservation by e-mail, please be sure to include the reference number of the desired accommodation (this can be found on the website), the desired period, the number of persons and pets and your contact information.

Where can I check the availability?

You can check the availability of a property on the 'Availability and reservations' page. When a certain period is indicated as being free 'subject to availability', this means that the period is available on our planning, but that we have to check the final availability with the owner. If you make a reservation for a period which is free with reservation and the period turns out not to be available (anymore), the reservation will be cancelled. If the period is available, the reservation remains final.

When does a reservation become final?

Once you make a reservation for a specific accommodation via the website and submit the reservation form, the reservation is final. If you make a reservation for a period that is free under certain conditions and the period is no longer available, the reservation will be cancelled. If the period is available, the reservation remains final.

Can I place an option?

If you have your eye on a property but still want to discuss it with your fellow travelers, for example, you can request an option on the desired period. Can I make changes to the booking after booking?

Eight weeks before departure you will receive by email the remaining travel documents including the address of the accommodation, directions, a voucher, information of a domestic nature and contact details of the person who will welcome you and hand over the key (often this is the owner or manager). I don't have internet or email address. Can I still make a reservation?

If you do not have access to the Internet and/or an e-mail address, you can make your reservation by telephone. The rental agreement and other documents will then be sent to you by mail. Our telephone number is 0031(0)102617022.

Can I pass on specific wishes?

If you express special wishes, so-called preferences, when booking, these will be passed on by us to the manager or owner of the accommodation in question. However, we cannot guarantee that your wishes will be met.If you have specific wishes that are essential to whether or not you book an accommodation, that is an essence. You must make this known at the time of booking. For example, if you have mobility problems, we recommend that you check whether the vacation home of your choice is suitable for you.

Is it possible to book a period with different arrival and departure dates?

For most of the vacation homes we offer, the minimum rental period is one week and Saturday is the arrival and departure day. If there is a different minimum rental period or a different arrival and departure day, this is stated in the description. For accommodations where weekend and midweek stays are offered, Friday (for a weekend or week stay) or Monday (for a midweek stay) are generally the arrival days.The possibility to reserve a period with different arrival and departure dates differs per accommodation and per season. We can inquire with the relevant owner for you if this possibility exists. In the high season it is generally not possible to deviate from the minimum rental period or to reserve different arrival and departure dates.

Can I already book for next year?

It is possible to reserve for next year from our current offer. If a price has not yet been determined for next year, we will contact the relevant owner to request availability and prices for next year.When booking for next year from the current offer, the deposit amount is usually only 20% plus additional costs. In December of this year, you will pay the remaining down payment amount of 15% of the travel sum. However, this is not a general rule. We will discuss it with you in advance. In connection with possible price changes or changes of other kinds, we hereby make a reservation.

Costs & payment

In addition to the rent, are there any additional fees to pay?

In addition to the rental price, there may be additional expenses. These expenses may consist of mandatory additional expenses ('To be paid on site' or 'To be paid via Basic Travel') and expenses for additional bookable options ('Available at additional cost'). These expenses are listed on the page with the prices.

In principle, additional expenses must be paid on site upon arrival, unless it is stated with the expenses that they must be paid via Basic Travel. What are the booking charges?

Basic Travel charges €28.00 for administrative expenses. If you book multiple vacation homes at the same time, you will only pay the booking charges once.

Most of the accommodations we offer require a mandatory security deposit. A deposit is generally paid on site in cash to the owner, the manager or an agency. For some accommodations, a deposit must be paid to Basic Travel in advance. A deposit to Basic Travel must be received by us no later than four weeks prior to commencement of the stay.

When and how do I get back a paid deposit?

Most of the accommodations we offer require a mandatory deposit. At the end of your stay, you will receive a refund of any deposit paid, less any damages incurred during your stay. Any additional costs, if not paid in advance or on arrival, may also be deducted from the deposit. In a number of cases, a deposit paid on site will not be refunded upon departure, but transferred directly to you via the agent or owner after departure. Upon payment to Basic Travel, repayment will also be made by Basic Travel, after we have contacted the owner and after settlement of any additional expenses and damages. We strive for a maximum period of four weeks after termination of the rental period.

What is the amount of a deposit?

What is tourist tax levied for?

Tourist tax is levied in most countries. Its presence and level is determined by local ordinances and depends on season and location. A reduction often applies for children. If known to us, we mention the tourist tax in the mandatory costs.It may happen that a municipality decides in the spring to introduce or increase tourist tax. The listed prices are therefore usually guide prices. It can also happen that in homes where no tourist tax is listed, this must be paid on the spot.

How much is the down payment?

The down payment amounts to 35% of the travel amount, the booking charges, the amount for any additional expenses payable via Basic Travel and the expenses for any insurance policies taken out.

What are the payment terms?

How can I pay?

Dutch customers can pay by Ideal, credit card or bank transfer.Belgian customers can pay by MrCash, credit card or bank transfer to our account in Belgium.French customers can pay by credit card or bank transfer to our account in France. Customers from countries other than the Netherlands, Belgium and France can pay by credit card or international bank transfer to our account in the Netherlands.There is a surcharge for credit card payments.You do not have to pay the deposit amount at the time of booking. Upon receipt of the travel documents you will also receive payment instructions according to your chosen method of payment.

Does early booking discount apply?

Basic Travel does not apply a general early booking discount. However, there are some houses, often park houses, for which an early booking discount does apply; where this is the case, this will be stated in the price list.Incidentally, it is advisable to book as early as possible. The earlier in the year, the greater the chance that the vacation home of your choice is still available in your chosen vacation period. Basic Travel offers you the possibility of booking one year in advance. Practice shows that this is even necessary for some vacation homes due to the great interest.

Are there any discounts for students or seniors?

Basic Travel does not use general student or senior discounts. There are however some homes, often park-homes, for which special discounts apply; where applicable this will be indicated in the price list.

Are bed, bathroom and kitchen linens provided or for rent?

You must bring your own bed linen, bathroom linen and kitchen linen, unless it is indicated that it is included. If you can rent the linen, it will be mentioned in the prices under 'Available at extra cost'. In some cases the linen is available, but must be paid for. This is then stated under the mandatory costs under 'To be paid on site' or 'To be paid via Basic Travel'. Pillows and blankets or comforters are always present.For any baby or children's beds, no linen is supplied, unless it is explicitly stated that this is the case.

Stay

Are pets allowed in the accommodations?

It varies per accommodation whether pets are allowed. The descriptions of the various accommodations indicate whether pets are allowed. If it is mentioned that pets are allowed with reservation, it depends on the type, breed and/or size of your pet whether or not the owner will allow it.Bringing a pet should always be mentioned when booking, even if pets are allowed without reservation. If you do not specify when booking that you will be traveling with one or more pets, the owner has the right to refuse entry to the vacation home if you do bring them. If you bring more than one pet, there may be an additional deposit or charge.

What does pet under reservation mean?

It varies with accommodation whether pets are allowed. The descriptions of the various accommodations indicate whether pets are allowed. If it is mentioned that pets are allowed with reservation, it depends on the type, breed and/or size of your pet whether the owner will allow them.

Should I leave the property clean myself or is the final cleaning included?

Upon departure, a final cleaning must take place. You must do this yourself, unless it is indicated that it is included. If you can have the final cleaning done for a fee, this is indicated in the prices under 'Optional extras'. In some cases you do not have to do the final cleaning yourself, but it is obligatory to pay for this. Upon departure you are required to leave the accommodation clean and tidy, even if the final cleaning is included or paid for by you. This means, among other things, that you have done the dishes, put away the garbage and put things back in their original place. If the accommodation is not left clean and/or tidy by you, the owner or manager may charge a fee for this or retain part of the deposit.

In the itinerary you will find the exact arrival and departure times that apply to your booked accommodation.

How many people are allowed to stay in an accommodation?

An accommodation may be occupied by the maximum number of people specified in its description. In the descriptions of the accommodations we use the following indications for the maximum number of persons, with as example 6 persons:6 : Maximum 6 persons, including babies and children.4-6 : Maximum 6 persons, where the accommodation is most comfortable for 4 persons. Often this will include, for example, a sitting/sleeping sofa for the remaining persons, or for example, the sitting and/or dining area is only suitable for 4 persons.5(+1) : Maximum 5 persons and 1 baby.If you nevertheless stay in the accommodation with more people than the maximum number allowed without prior written permission, this may result in termination of the rental agreement. This means that the owner may refuse you access to the rented property. If you wish to stay in a booked accommodation with more than the number of persons stated on reservation (but no more than the maximum number allowed), you must report this to Basic Travel or to the owner of the vacation home prior to departure. If a higher travel sum applies for the increased number of persons, the rental agreement must be adjusted.

May I stay in the accommodation with more persons than stated during the reservation?

If you want to stay in the accommodation with more persons than stated upon reservation, you must report this to Basic Travel or to the owner of the vacation home prior to departure. If a higher travel sum applies for the increased number of persons, the rental agreement will have to be adjusted.An accommodation may only be inhabited by the maximum number of persons stated in its description. Should you nevertheless stay in the accommodation with more people, the rental agreement may be terminated. This means that the owner may refuse you access to the rented property. In such a case, you will not be entitled to any compensation for the unused days.

May I place a tent or caravan on the grounds near the vacation home?


It is expressly prohibited to camp (tent, caravan or camper) on the grounds or garden that may belong to the vacation home or homes without express permission from the owner and/or Basic Travel. Violation of this rule may result in termination of the rental agreement, for which no right to compensation exists.

I have a complaint about the rented accommodation, what should I do?

If upon arrival or during your stay things are not as expected or desired, it is important that you follow our complaints procedure (Article 15 of our general conditions) and thus report any complaints without delay during your stay. Which insurances can I take out when making a reservation?

When making a reservation for a vacation home, Basic Travel offers you the possibility of cancellation insurance and travel insurance. Always make sure that you are properly insured, so that you yourself run as little financial risk as possible in case of unforeseen circumstances. Hoe kan ik mijn boeking annuleren en welke kosten zijn daaraan verbonden?

Een annulering dient schriftelijk, dit kan ook per email, te worden gedaan. Aan het annuleren van een reservering zijn annuleringskosten verbonden. Does a legal reflection period apply to reservations?

No legal reflection period applies to reservations of vacation accommodation. Bookings can only be cancelled against payment of the applicable cancellation fee.
